Serbian and Greek unionists meet in Belgrade to mark the 25 years since NATO bombing

At the emblematic bridge of Novi Sad, a symbol of both the NATO atrocity and the heroic resistance of the Serbian people against the imperialist intervention of 1999, a massive delegation of PAME demonstrated.

The hundreds of union representatives opened a giant banner spreading it on the bridge and sending the message “75 years NATO has been targeting the peoples of the whole world-The only power is the people”.

The 4th of April marked the 75th anniversary since the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty by 12 countries in Washington DC. The pretext for the foundation of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was the protection from “Soviet aggression” as well as the – supposed – consolidation of peace in the severely injured by the Second World War European continent. However, as history showed, the actual reasons behind the alliance's establishment had nothing to do with defense or peace. 

 

KKE condemns Council of Europe's recommendation over Kosovo membership

In a statement (here in Greek) concerning the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to recommend Kosovo's accession to the Council of Europe, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out:

“The KKE condemns the decision for the accession of the protectorate of Kosovo which was recently taken by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe following a recommendation by Dora Bakoyannis (ND). 

 

KKE: Statement on Iran's attack against Israel and the escalation of war in the Middle East

Today, the 4th April 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of NATO’s establishment. The KKE accuses Mitsotakis' government for providing white phosphorus weapons to Ukraine

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) accused the conservative New Democracy (ND) government on Tuesday 2/4 for indirectly providing white phosphorous weapons to Ukraine. Speaking at the Parliament, KKE MP Nikos Papanastasis said: 

 

“The ND government, leading the way in supporting the NATO-US-EU military operations in Ukraine, within the war with Russia, has once again submitted for approval a new list of weaponry and ammunition for sale, in addition to the unknown huge quantities that have already been sent since the beginning of the war”.

 

Dimitris Koutsoumbas: With a stronger KKE in Greece and abroad, for a great pan-European counterattack

Speaking in Nicosia, Cyprus on Sunday, the General Secretary of the CE of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, called for strengthening of the Party in the upcoming European Parliament elections.

"With a much stronger KKE much stronger in Greece and abroad, let's trumpet a pan-European counterattack! Let's send the appropriate message to the EU of brutality: A stronger KKE and bigger mass counter-attack struggles for the right of the peoples," he stressed. 

"No Pasaran!": KKE-KNE members in Alexandroupolis blocked train carrying US-NATO tanks

They did it again! Members of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its Communist Youth, KNE, in the northern city of Alexandroupolis, set up a blockade on a train carrying US-NATO military equipment and combat vehicles (tanks).

As 902 portal reported, the KKE and KNE members blocked the railroad by staying firmly in front of the train with the banner and flags thus forcing the train to stop. Additionally, the protesters spray-painted the armored vehicles, writing on them the phrase "Killers Go Home".

Greek Army cadet prosecuted over anti-NATO views

The spectre of censorship seems to be back in the Greek Armed Forces these days. Konstantinos Kesopoulos, Cadet reserve officer of Infantry in the Hellenic Army, has been summoned for an official apology after expressing himself against Greece's military involvement in the Euro-Atlantic imperialist plans in the Middle East.

The cadet's “crime” was the fact that that he publicly expressed his opposition to the dispatch of a Greek frigate in the Red Sea within NATO and EU's operations against the Houthis. He also demanded the closure of all foreign military bases and the cancellation of the Greek-US joint drills which actually prepare the Hellenic Army for active participation in the imperialist war fronts in Ukraine and the Middle East. 

China Plunders Congo, Exploits Miners — "Anti-imperialists” Approve

Late in January Sinohydro Corp and China Railway Group Limited re-negotiated their plunder of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). They hold 68% of Sicomines, a joint copper and cobalt mining venture with a local corporation. The two Chinese corporations will pay a pitiful royalty of 1.2% on gross sales.

The Chinese firms also pledged to invest $7 billion in infrastructure in the Congo during the life of the agreement. However, in the previous contract they had agreed to put in $3 billion but actually invested only $822 million.

Greece: New mobilizations against the presence of US-NATO ships in the country

People’s protests against the escalation of the presence of US-NATO ships and troops in Greece continue. Greece’s ND government, together with its NATO allies, is involving the country more and more deeply in the dangerous imperialist plans and wars against the peoples of the region.

On Saturday 13^th January in Thessaloniki, the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) organized a rally against the presence of NATO ships of the US, Germany and G. Britain with the slogan: “Thessaloniki is a port of the peoples, not a launching pad for the imperialists”.

Communist Party of the Workers of Spain: We reject any Spanish participation in imperialist mission in the Red Sea
